Children's Programs

Little Ninjas: All our Little Ninja Karate classes are taught using safe, fun and exciting instruction methods appropriate for their age group (3-5 years old) through martial arts drills, skill games, and challenging obstacle courses. We take pride in our curriculum that develops listening and motor skills to benefit your child’s well-being, while also providing the foundation to progress in the martial arts.

Samurai and Youth Karate: We provide a safe environment for kids and young adults to learn martial arts skills that will benefit them throughout their life. Our well-rounded program is separated into four different levels (Beginner and Advanced Samurai, Youth and Advanced Youth) each with classes that will set your child up for success by building on skills they are already developing – respect, self-confidence, perseverance and integrity. Our classes will help steer your child in the right direction in all areas of life. Our highest priority is to provide exceptional teaching so our students will reach their full potential, with fun and excitement in lessons designed to strengthen mental and physical development.  All students in these 4 groups can also learn our 4 standard weapons and participate in our Sparring classes if desired.

All of our Kids (and Adults!) develop the following attributes as they train with us:

FOCUS: Better focus helps your child ignore potential distractions and exercise better self-control, and they can better understand directions to excel in school and sports, etc.

CONFIDENCE: As they learn and improve progressively more difficult tasks, they gain the self-confidence that is so important in life. Self-confidence has also been shown to minimize bullying, as well as preventing them from becoming the bully! Even the initially shy students will become comfortable leading the counting for warmups, showing their kata and drills to the rest of the class, and even defending themselves surrounded by a circle of "attackers."

TEAMWORK: Teamwork is necessary in school and society, and we foster teamwork skills to improve willingness to work with others, accomplishing more and becoming better leaders together.

CONTROL: Better self-control allows for better decision-making. It applies to physical and social interactions, as well as avoiding and solving problems. Your child will develop confidence to make the right decisions and control their emotions.

BALANCE: Physical balance is crucial to develop at an early age. Your child is beginning to participate in many physical activities that initially can be challenging, like riding a bicycle and school sports. Developing good balance makes these activities easier, improves performance, and is a key to proper self-defense. As they get older, a philosophical balance (screen time vs outdoor time) also becomes important.

MEMORY: Memory drills are exercises for your child’s brain. The sooner your child starts practicing, the greater the benefits. Our drills are constantly helping your child work their mind while they also develop their body.

DISCIPLINE: Discipline is important in martial arts, although we also keep classes fun. We let students know when it is okay to be goofy, and when it is not, and put a lot of energy into proper structure for our classes.  Discipline is rewarded with high-fives and positive feedback, and goofing around usually results in a reminder, a set of pushups, or sitting out an activity. Discipline keeps everyone focused and safe, and children learn that more fun and activities can be had when proper discipline is followed.

FITNESS: Children should understand the importance of being healthy and physically fit, and should continually work to improve their current ability level. Through martial arts, we show them that exercise is fun and exciting, and parents know it is a great way to burn off the extra energy kids have.

COORDINATION: Younger kids will learn their right from their left, and everyone works on progressively more challenging techniques and combinations. We promote not only hand-eye coordination but also foot-eye coordination! Improved coordination leads to fewer injuries and better proficiency. What they learn with us will also help their performance and enjoyment of other sports and activities. Effective self-defense moves are usually simple, but mastering more complicated techniques makes the easy ones even easier!

Thank you for your interest in Children's Karate / Martial Arts Classes. We have separate classes for different age groups and experience levels, allowing us to have group-appropriate content and activities. We also sometimes use our two different rooms to focus on subgroups within a class. Our students learn to protect themselves, express themselves, and grow as people and as martial artists.

We focus on self-development and fitness through self-defense, but in an age-appropriate, safe and fun manner. -This is why some of our Instructors have been with us for 10, 15 and even 20 or more years, often themselves starting as a Little Ninja!

We always offer a free trial, either in their group or private mini-class if preferred, and we offer a New Student Special to allow for an extended risk-free chance to confirm they want to continue training longer-term with us.

Adult Martial Arts - Try a Free Class!

We offer Adult classes for all ability and experience levels, sometimes using our two rooms and offering variations to challenge Beginners and Advanced students and properly direct the material.

We focus on self-development and fitness through self-defense, but in a safe, fun and effective manner. Our classes include Karate, Weapons and Small Circle Jujitsu techniques, with both solo, partner and group work.  Training brings mental and physical health benefits, and increases confidence to help improve your life outside of karate as well - even if you hopefully never need to use the many techniques you will learn!

Please come in for a free trial, either a regular group class to see what that is all about, or we can also arrange a private mini-class if preferred. We then have a New Student Special to allow for an extended risk-free period to reconfirm you like our approach and look to continue longer-term.
